STINA FAGERTUN

 About Stina.

Single mother, 45, mother of two children age 22 and 14.

Ancestry: Coastal Sami and Kven, (Finnish descendant), from the local fiords of Arctic Norway.

 

Author, and a cultural worker for over 25 years.

Stina has a solid background from a lot of Theatre, and Revue Companies.

Stina Fagertun also has several Publications:

Stina has written fairytales, and been collecting ancient, unique fairytales from the Sami, Kven and Arctic storyteller tradition.

Stina writes manuscripts, songs, texts and lyrics. She is directs her own work to, and do the scenography as well.

“Heksenatt ved fjorden” 1999 (Arctic Witches) with participation of 150 actors, all age’s. A outdoor performance.

“En krans av isroser” (A ring of Ice roses)

a physical Circus about Medieval Arctic Traditions, actors all ages, outdoor ice theatre. 2001

“Et drømmespill”  2003 (“Ancient Dreams”) About Vikings in the Arctic.  A performance that included  living animals, children, and adults.

A outdoor performance.

These performances included over 100 performers, made in collaboration with Anita Barth-Jørgensen, who was in charge of the music.

Ballet performances with 6 years old kids:

Swanlake, Giselle, Firebird,

And also local versions for kids: Cats, Magical Flute.

Stina’s version of Cats with kids shown at the National Tv Company of Norway NRK, Sept.15th, 2005.

 

For the Award winning Arctic Museum (“Midt Troms Museum”) Manuscript and lyrics to the songs: “Å det vi fant” a big outdoor performance.  A Musical about the emigration from Southern Norway, to the Arctic in the 1800.  The music is available on CD at Midt Troms Museum.

 

Stina did an article together with Mr.Scott Givot in Sons of Norway Viking Magazine, January -08.

The article by Scott Givot, and his visit to Tromsø that we hosted, and arranged in June -08 is now published in Viking Magazine January -09.

 

“What we left and what we found” Manuscript, and actor for our Emigration Performance together with Anita Barth-Jørgensen. Performed after Norsk Hostfest, Minot, North Dakota Oct.2008.

 

Kindergarten Teacher.

In the 80’s running her own creative kindergarten for 10 years.

Then founder of the first Cultural Kindergarten in Norway with focus on theatre, music and arts and craft for preschool children. Her kindergarten have had visitors from as far away as Estonia, and is unique in their work with children performing Shakespeare, dancing ballet, outdoor theatre, classical music, culture and so forth.

 

In the Cultural Kindergarten Stina were the Creative Inspirator and more for 10 years.

She has been the managing director of the board in the Cultural Kindergarten, for a year, and then a member of the board for 10 years.

 

Storyteller and text writer.

Stina is a professional storyteller and text writer.

She is a member of the Arctic Association for Authors,”Nord Norsk Forfatterlag.

 

Actress.

For 15 years, till 1996, Stina was part of the “Tromso Revue Company” as an actress, text writer and member of the board.

She recently did 20 school performances for the UN. Their Arctic Office located in Tromso. She wrote the script and was performing it alone.

 

Award winner at Norsk Revyfestival (The Norwegian Revue Festival)in 1993.

She was an actress on the Norwegian National Revue League, performing in Oslo, and around Norway.

Has done several appearances on TV, film, and radio, (commercials too).

Actress in several theatre groups in Tromso. Lead role in the 200 year anniversary performance of Tromso as a town in 1994.

 

Other  tasks.

Stina is one of the founder of the “Genealogy Association of Arctic Norway”, “Slektshistorisk forening i Tromso”, and member of the board for two years.

ANITA BARTH-JOERGENSEN

 

About Anita.

 

Single mother, age 43, mother of two children age 19 and 18.

Norwegian girl and adopted Sami. Proudly aloud to wear the Sami dress from her birth area, and to do the joik, Tribal Sami Chants, and the Sami handcraft, although she is a Norwegian girl.

 

Musical pedagogue.

Classical educated pianist at the Music Conservatorium of Tromso.

Teach piano. Teach students to use a variety  of pentatonic Instruments.

 

Waldorf(Rudolf Steiner)School.

Teacher for 21 years.

Anita first working in the Waldorf Kindergarten outside Oslo, then Tromsø..

Then started teaching at Tromsø Waldorf School. The Northernmost Waldorf School in the World,included 4 years as the principal.

Anita is the Conductor for all the Choirs at the school, and music teacher for all grades.

She has also been teaching middle grade students as “grade teacher” in all subjects.

 

In the organization of Waldorf Schools of Norway, Anita is frequently giving speeches, classes and upgrading courses in music and other terms, also as a teachers coach, for all Waldorf School teachers in Norway and Scandinavia.

 

She was in charge of the 20 year anniversary for the Waldorf School in Tromso.

Including all grades that shows theatre at the Culture house, expeditions around town, concerts and a performance at the biggest stage at the Culture house, where the whole school, students and teachers participated.

 

She has been part of the “board of directors” in several departments at the Waldorf School in Tromso, and also the Tromso school representative in the national board.

 

Conductor.

For several years Anita has been conductor for Choirs in Tromso.

The oldest male choir in town, 135 years old, “Tromso Arbeider forenings Mannskor”,

The mixed choir in the Arctic Cathedral, “Aurora Borealis”, and the female choir ”Koret”, and several children choirs.

She won the Public Award Price with school children from the Waldorf School, in Prague Youth Choir festival in 2006.

 

Other musical tasks.

Anita is a singer too, and a guest pianist together with the Jazz Trio “The Hamfats” in Asker County outside Oslo.

                    ANITA AND STINA TOGETHER:

             THE  BUREAU   OF  FANTASY/ CABARET AVEC

 

For 13 years we have been working together with our own little company: “The Bureau of Fantasy/Cabaret Avec”, Anita as a pianist, singer, actor and composer, and Stina as text writer and actress and singer.  We make and perform with cabarets, revues, children and adult performances, also big outdoor theatre performances. We do create humorous events and performances for hotels, firms, companies and private persons, in Norway and abroad.

 

We have been performing in London, UK, where we were in charge of the presentation of Northern Norway by “Visit Tromso”, when the airline company “Norwegian” had the opening ceremony for the direct flight Tromso-London dec.-07.We also performed as two of the characters from Stinas children book, King Frost and Queen of the Northern Lights at Covent Garden.

 

We have done a lot of work for Visit Tromso, the Official Tourist Agency in Arctic Norway, making our performances in English too for tourists.

 The “World Travel Summit Event” with 250 persons from 26 nations,that we hosted.

 

June -08, creating, Hosting and arranging Traditional Arctic Food Week with Jazz Trumpeter Gregg Stafford from New Orleans, in Tromso as part of a Culinary Event with Mr. Scott Givot, a Culinary Journalist and writer for Viking Magazine, Sons Of Norway, and chef at restaurant “En To Tre”(Sons Of Norway)in Minot ND,Norsk Hostfest.

 

We hosted and arranged the visit of President Of Augsburg College Minneapolis Mr. Paul Pribbenow when he visited Tromso recently before he attended the Nobel Performance in Oslo. We work closely with Mr. Harald Gaski at the Sami Institute at the University Of Tromsø, the world’s northernmost University.

 

Together we also give humorous lessons, speeches, upgrading courses, and coach teachers in how to do untraditional ways of music and theatre indoor and outdoor for all grades, including High Schools and College/University students. We did that in sept-08 at the University Of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Duluth, and Augsburg College.

 

We carefully use almost forgotten fairytales from different cultures, or from indigenous people all over the world, including songs, music and instruments and their language in some of our performances. We also do Sami Joik. (Tribal Chants)

We use these elements to teach the participants and/or audience children and adults, culture and facts about the area the stories and music comes from, but our hearts is in the Arctic region…

Anita is using traditional instruments from the indigenous people of the Arctic. Stina is the storyteller.

 

We have been in USA at Norsk Hostfest the last 4 years in the school programme,

and in -07 and -08 also in charge of the performance at Youth Camp.

 

In -08 we went touring Minneota, Wisconsin and North Dakota before taking part in Norsk Hostfest and Youth Camp.

We now hope to do performances for you in New York and New Orleans.

 

This year in USA

Performance at “Lake Peppin Art Center” in Wisconsin

Performance at Augsburg College, Minneapolis, Waldorf School, and the University.

Performance at Mindekirken, Minneapolis(where former Wise President Walter Mondale attended).

Performances at The Indian College, Dunseith Turtle Mountain.

Our Host former Senator Dan Jerome, and Les Thomas, Tourist Agency, Turtle Mountain.

 

At Norsk Hostfest in Minot North Dakota: The largest Annual Scandinavian Festival for 31  years, more than 80.000 visitors this year!

Anita and Stina has bent there performing the last four years.

 

We built our 10 booth’s and then we performed in our Arctic Booth in Stockholm Hall.

We have a partnership with “Visit Tromsø”. They want to tell about the northern part of Norway.

We told fairytales, sung, did Sami Joik, and some hand craft for, and together with people visiting the booth.

 

We also performed at “Governors reception”, Gov.John Hoeven.

“The Scandinavian Hall of Fame Dinner”, and the Grand Opening Ceremony Of Norsk Hostfest, before Beach Boys entered stage, 5000 in the audience.

We created and hosted “The Arctic Reception”. It was conducted and performed by us.

Hostfest in the Schools Programme, several schools each day (4years)

Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation,performances. Dunseith and Belcourt.

After Høstfest we had a performance, made by us, about the emigration from Norway. This included singers from Tromsø, and a local choir from Minot ND “The Heritage Singers”.

 

It is written several articles about us, in Minot Daily News, also front page, and we did Radio Interviews in Minneapolis and Belcort Radio Stations.
